A project by the Youth Music Center in partnership with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine
The festival’s closing event will feature a concert of world premieres, as all the works to be performed were created during the festival and will come to life for the first time at the Kyiv Baroque Fest – 2025 Finale.
Participants of the “Werkstatt” project, initiated by the Youth Music Center, explored questions such as:
— What might a Ukrainian Renaissance have been like if it had taken place in our history?
— What would its musical dimension sound like?
— Could we imagine it by drawing on related musical traditions?
Over three months, young composers worked on new pieces that construct a possible sound of a Ukrainian rebirth, combining diverse traditions and practices.
Blending electronics and Baroque instruments, folk roots and contemporary compositional techniques, under the mentorship of German composer Sven-Ingo Koch, the artists explored new sonic worlds.
The result of this collaboration – five new ensemble works will receive their world premieres in this concert.
