Hana Blažíková | Czech Republic. ‘Songs of Endurance and Consolation’

Hana Blažíková, a world-renowned interpreter of Baroque vocal music, is celebrated for the depth of her expression and the extraordinary purity of her tone.

For her concert in Kyiv, Hana has created a special program that reflects her heartfelt support for Ukraine. Through the works of two Baroque masters, G. F. Handel and J. S. Bach, she conveys a message of endurance, faith, and hope.

“War is undoubtedly the most difficult and painful experience for any person. I wanted to present several compositions that, in a figurative way, speak to these circumstances. They express human mortality and suffering, but also the indomitable human spirit and, ultimately, the great consolation and joy found in something that transcends us.

It is no coincidence that I included Bach’s compositions, which carry the message that human struggle is not in vain. All the selected Handel arias express admiration for the steadfastness and strength of Christ in the face of suffering and death.

I wished for today’s concert to ease, even a little, the hardships the Ukrainian people are experiencing. I know music is not all-powerful, but I hope that these moments spent with beautiful music will bring at least a small measure of comfort to your difficult days.”
