The first concert program of the project – 1000 years of Ukrainian Music: organ version, was created by Ukrainian musicologist, composer and organ player artist – Bohdan Demyanenko.
The Listener will have an opportunity to come through not a short way and fall into Ukrainian music of the Middle age, Barocco, Classicism and Present Time. Simultaneously the goal of the project – to remind us about the wholeness of our plural decades of musical tradition and its deep kinship with musical culture to West Europe.
Thats why Bohdan Demyanenko was chosen as a main “hero” of the project – organ.
That instrument. that we associate only with westeuropian music. On the wall of Sofiia Cathedral in Kyiv you can see among court musicians of Yaroslav The Wise the picture of organ artist. So Ukrainian music, particularly choral music with organ, allows specially with emotionally deep feeling and connections with westeuropian musical tradition.
Some works of the program will sound premierly! Other – after long forgetting, nowadays deciphered from manuscripts and adopted for organ performing. Those forgotten compositions will be heard for the first time after 300 years of gap. Soon the program will sound in the biggest organ halls of Ukraine – Dnipro, Soomy, Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Ooghorod and others, next year – countries of the European Union.
