Chamber Ensembles

Brass Ukraine is a brass quintet formed by soloists of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine. The group was founded in 2022 under the name Philharmonic Brass Ukraine to collaborate on joint projects and create original concert programs for a wide range of audience.

The groups’s repertoire covers music from the Baroque period to the present day, blending original works for brass quintet with a variety of arrangements and transcriptions. In just a few years, they have created numerous original programs, including Ukrainian Christmas, Old Europe, Music of Love, Spring Dixieland, Spanish May, One-Note Samba, and Music from the Movies, featuring works by Ukrainian and international composers ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Antonio Vivaldi to George Gershwin, Astor Piazzolla, Ennio Morricone, and John Williams.

Brass Ukraine performs across Ukraine, including a series of sold-out concerts in July 2024 in Kharkiv as part of the national project Ukrainian ART HUB “Artistic Fortress,” and has also toured internationally, with performances in Germany in 2023 and Japan in 2024.

The quintet regularly collaborates with philharmonic soloists and guest artists, exploring a variety of musical styles. Recent projects include the premiere of Oleksandr Potiienko’s musical The Musicians of Bremen, Barocco & Jazz with singers Valentyna Matiushenko and Olha Tabulina, and an early music program with organist Tetiana Zhuk-Sedova.

Brass Ukraine aims to make brass music accessible and engaging for a broad audience. Their concerts combine high-level musicianship with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Alongside well-known works, they often present rarely performed pieces in Ukraine, offering audiences the opportunity to discover something new.

As Ukraine’s only professional brass quintet, Brass Ukraine is committed to promoting brass music and strengthening its presence in the country’s cultural life.
