ELGAR – BRITTEN

This concert presents music of 20^th century British composers. Performed by the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Nataliia Ponomarchuk, the program unfolds between clarity, intensity, and emotional depth. The evening opens with Introduction and Allegro by Edward Elgar, a work of luminous string writing that moves from lyrical restraint to energetic momentum. It continues with Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge by Benjamin Britten, a sequence of contrasting musical portraits, from playful and ironic to deeply expressive and dramatic. The concert concludes with Britten’s Les Illuminations, set to poems by Arthur Rimbaud. Vivid and atmospheric, the cycle unfolds in shifting images that leave a lasting impression.
