This evening’s program brings together Viennese Classicism, contemporary documentary music, and Italian symphonic tradition.
The concert is conducted by Georgian composer Nikoloz Rachveli. It opens with Piano Concerto No. 27 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his final work in the genre, written in 1791. The soloist is well-known American-Georgian pianist Alexander Korsantia.
At the centre of the program is the Ukrainian premiere of Rachveli’s Our Story for symphony orchestra and recorded audio. The piece combines live orchestral sound with real recorded voices, creating a musical reflection on history, identity, and memory.
The program concludes with the third and fourth movements of Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi, moving from the quiet night on Janiculum Hill to the sunrise on the Appian Way.
